Interview with Author Christine Rice
I met Christine Rice on Book Blogs a few months ago. I reviewed her book, Poetry for the Heart. Since then, we have stayed in touch on Book Blogs and Twitter. Christine has been publishing her writing since 2007. She is the author of four books, is currently working on two books, and has plans for three more books! When she’s not writing she enjoys reading, computers, the Internet, family, exercising, shopping, and dining out. She resides in Worcester, MA USA with her husband and cat. Now, on to the interview!
How long have you been a writer?
I’ve always enjoyed writing. I wrote my first short story when I was nine or ten. I wrote poetry and in my journal when I was fourteen. I continued writing over the years and when I was twenty-five I considered myself a writer.
What is your writing experience?
I wrote a lot in college as an English and professional writing major. Then I began writing articles and poems and publishing them online. I also did ghostwriting of website content and marketing emails, and wrote press releases. I had a few book attempts and then published my first book in 2007. I have published three more books since then.
What topics do you write about in your books?
I write nonfiction and poetry books. I write a variety of topics in my poetry book, Poetry for the Heart, and my essay book, Essays for the Soul. I wrote about my life journey in my autobiography, My Not-So-Ordinary Life. In Freelance Writing Guide, I wrote about what a freelance writing career is like during the first year.
What interests you about writing nonfiction and poetry?
Besides the short stories I wrote as a kid, I have only written nonfiction and poetry. I feel that I have stronger skills as a nonfiction writer and author, so it comes easier to me than fiction, and so that is what I write. I like writing about my knowledge, experiences, thoughts, and feelings. I like writing about truth and fact.
What is the title of your most recently published book and a description of it?
My most recently published book is Freelance Writing Guide: What to Expect in Your First Year as a Freelance Writer . It’s a career guide book that covers all of the career experiences I had during my first year as a freelance writer, such as article writing, ghostwriting, book writing, book reviewing, blogging, website ownership, self-publishing, finances, income, and more.
Thanks for joining us today, Christine! Good luck with your future endeavors!
